You may not be aware but the air conditioning in the car can strip the negative ions in the air. So when you are sitting in a car, agitated with the traffic congestion, lack of negative ions and too much positive ions could be the cause of your state of mind.
It’s cool to see the latest 2012 model of the Toyota Camry (surprise surprise, it’s Japanese) is equipped to give a balanced ratio of negative and positive ions in the car.

This plasma cluster purifies the air inside the car by preventing absorption of mold, fungus, and dust. Nano-e are negative ions surrounded by water molecules. Compared to normal ions, they last longer and provide a cleaner air flow inside the vehicle.”
